Hiking together with horses

First day

We meet our guests at the airport in Kiruna (90 km north) or Gällivare (45 km south).
We travel by car in the direction of Moskojärvi. From there we travel with the 4-wheeler or by boat to the SnowTrail Dogcamp Lodge. (Approx. 3 km)

Second day

Preparation day We get all the information that we need for the following days. For example: what we have to take with us, how much and who carries what. We ride a short tour with the horses so you have a chance to get to know them.

Departure to the expedition. We guide you over Tajga, Tundra, far away from the civilisation in a unique unforgettable landscape. When we have reached our destination we take care of the horses, build up our tents, do some fishing or just enjoy the peace.

Fourth day

From our 'New Camp' we do some expeditions to get to know the surrounding. The horses will accompany us, so everyone has the possibility to ride. In the evening we fish, pan gold, cook together and tell stories.

Today we hike back to the Lodge.

Sixth day

Relaxing by the Lodge. You can plan your day as you wish. (Sauna, swimming in the house lake, or help to take care of the animals.)

Seventh day

Today we go by boat fishing, so everyone has a chance to catch a huge pike. In the evening we sit by the fire if the weather allows it and so we enjoy the last evening at the Lodge.

Eight day

We bring you back to the airport.

1. Tag

Ankunft in der Lodge in Moskojärvi

2. Tag

Wir lernen die Umgebung kennen und geniessen. Bootsausflug, Wanderung in Tajga und Tundra, je nach Wetter.

3.- 4. Tag Camping in der unberührten Natur

Wir bringen Sie auf eine Halbinsel wo Sie im Zelt übernachten können, je nach Wetter können Sie schwimmen, fischen oder einfach die Ruhe und Stille geniesen. Ein Kräuterbuch könnte von botanischer Sicht sicher behilflich sein.

5. Tag

Wir machen eine Wanderung auf unseren "Hausberg" Avvakko. Eine wunderschöne Wanderung die belohnt wird von einer Weitsicht über einen grossen Teil des Nationalparks Lapponia.

6.-7. Tag

Stehen für verschiedene Aktivitäten zur Verfügung wie
  • Fischen
  • Goldwaschen
  • Biologische Informationen über die arktische Tajga und Tundra
  • Informationen über das Leben hier oben in der Wildnis
  • Infos über den Winter u.s.w

8.Tag

Wir bringen Sie zurück zum Flughafen.

Der Haussee lädt Sie immer zum Baden ein und nicht zu vergessen ist unsere Sauna.
Auf Wunsch erteilen wir Reitunterricht. (Westernriding)

A feeling of the Tajga

The first day

From there we travel with the 4-wheeler or by boat to the SnowTrail Dog camp Lodge. (Approx. 3 km) In the evening a typical Arctic meal is served for our guests. We light a fire outside by the pond and enjoy the bright evening.

In the morning we are going by boat to put out the fishing net. Back on land we make a fire and just enjoy the peace and quiet of nature. We can also try some fishing. In the evening we get the advantage of the 24 hour daylight.

The third day

We pack our bags and try our luck panning for gold and fishing in the wilderness.

The fourth day

After breakfast we drive by car to Gällivare, a traditional small City with samish origin, where we have the opportunity to visit one of the largest gold and copper mines in the world. We can also visit the iron mine in Gällivare. In the afternoon we drive back to the Lodge.

The fifth day

We are going to the Kaitum river where we try our luck in fishing.

The sixth day

We drive to Abisko, from there we take the cable car to the mountain station Njulla. We enjoy the marvellous view over North Sweden, then we hike down to the valley.

The seventh day

We can stay in the lodge or do what we enjoyed most during the week. In the evening we have a farewell party with a chance to reflect on the weeks events and experiences.

The eight day

Transportation is provided back to the airport.

We test and practise gold panning, canoeing and fishing. You will get precise instructions on how to prepare yourself for the 4 days in the wilderness.

The thirth, fourth, fifth and sixth day

We go out in the wilderness and do what we have learned: fishing, gold panning, canoeing etc.
In the evening we make a fire, enjoy the sunny nights and the total peace. Then we put up the tent and go to sleep.

The seventh day

We can stay in the lodge, or do what we enjoyed most during the week. In the evening we have a farewell party with a chance to reflect on the weeks events and experiences.

The second day

After breakfast all our guests are given a lot of tips about how to survive out in the wilderness i.e. what you can find to eat, how to make a fire even when there is no wood, or how to navigate without aids such as a compass etc.
In the evening we make our baggage ready, including for the dogs who will of course, help to carry it.

The third fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh day

We will be out in the wilderness and let ourselves be surprised of what there is to see and do. We go fishing, hiking, watch animals, pan for gold and learn something new from Nature every day. In the evening we pitch our tents, admire the light evenings, make a fire and enjoy the absolute peace and silence. We go hiking far from civilisation, by streams, lakes and rivers which we sometimes have to cross.

The eight day

Return trip to the airport.

Life wisdom from the past

Your instructor will teach you the following, nice and gently, with no pressure:

  • how to light a fire without wood
  • old Indian medical knowledge for injuries (natures drugstore)
  • healthy eating, including minerals, vitamins and proteins
  • the secret of successful fishing
  • how to navigate by the sun, water and plants
  • about animals and plants
  • how to make use of what nature provides.

You will take your rations with you, nobody has to eat insects or worms! We will show you how to survive in the wilderness, we will share our knowledge with you. The extent to which you join in is up to you - we won't force anyone.

You will practise all this in the Kebenekaise region, far away from civilisation, but what you learn there will be of use all over the world.

Every group member decides for him or herself:

  • how much food to take along
  • which clothes to take
  • what the backpack contains and how much it weighs.

We will be pleased to advise you.

The full program lasts 8 days ( 1 day arrival and departure + 6 days away)

Wandern im Avvakko Gebiet
weit weg von jeglicher Zivilisation

Wir nehmen einige Hunde mit auf die Expedition und können einiges von Mutter Natur lernen.

1. Tag

Wir begrüssen unsere Gäste am Flughafen in Kiruna und fahren gemeinsam ca 90 km mit dem Auto nach Moskojärvi und die letzten 3 Km mit einem vierrädrigen Geländemotorrad zu unserer Lodge.

2.Tag

Wir stimmen uns ein für die folgenden Tage. Wir lernen die nähere Umgebung kennen. Machen uns mit den Tieren vertraut und bekommen klare Instruktionen wie sich in der Wildnis zu verhalten.

3.Tag

Heute machen wir eine längere Wanderung, wo wir auch lernen mit den Hilfsmitteln der Natur zu Navigieren. Je nach Saison können wir Leckereinen aus dem Garten der Natur geniessen, (Heidelbeeren, Maultebeeren, Pilze u.s.w.) Am Abend gehen wir zurück zur Lodge.

4.- 6.Tag

Heute beginnt unsere 3 Tages Expedition in die Wildnis. Wir wandern nach Karte, benützen unser Gelerntes der 2 letzten Tage und geniessen die Stille und die Einsamkeit. Wir schlafen in Zelten oder Kottas.
 
Lappland ist voller Seen und Flüsse, Tundras und Taiga.

7. Tag

Wir erholen uns in der Lodge von der Expedition, baden im Haussee gehen fischen oder saunieren.

8. Tag

Wir bringen Sie zurück zum Flughafen.

For Fishermen

The first day

We meet our guests at the airport in Kiruna (90 km north) or Gällivare (45 km south. We travel by car in the direction of Moskojärvi. From there we travel with the 4-wheeler or by boat to the SnowTrail Dogcamp Lodge. (Approx. 3 km)

The second day

We discuss our various options, how, where and what we want to fish for. Permits are distributed and fishing tackle checked over and supplemented if necessary. On the first day we like to accompany and guide our guests so that they can find their way around in the next few days.

The third to the seventh day

Fishing at your leisure. If our visitors want to go to Kaitum/Kalix river we'll take them there by car and bring them back of course.

The eighth day

We return our guests to the airport.

Fish you can catch here are:

Grayling said to be the biggest in all Europe
Brown trout wonderfully large specimens
Pike plentiful, large and widely available
Salmon to be found in the Kalix/Kaitum river
Arctic charr to be caught in the mountain lakes
White fish at home in many of the lakes, a real delicacy smoked
Salmon trout in the Kalix/Kaitum river in the autumn
Perch known as the "thousand brothers" in these parts

We can offer a range of special programs, tailor-made to suit our clients' wishes.
Boats or canoes can be provided and full sets of equipment can be hired too.
We have all the fishing permits for every interesting lake and river in the vicinity.
We can offer you a "full-time guiding" or "half-guiding" service or simply tell you where to find the best fishing.

This program is particularly suitable for families with children.

The second to the seventh day

You take an active part in the life of our lodge, help to feed and take care of the dogs and horses. (Your help is meant to be voluntary).
  • you can help to empty the fishing nets
  • you can help to gather berries
  • you can join us on shopping trips

Der Dog Kennel mit zwei Bewohnern - Im Sommer ruhen die Alaska Huskies aus.These activites are possible individually:

  • Fishing. (Licence for one week available)
  • Hiking in the undisturbed nature.
  • Sauna - as much as you like.
  • ... or just relax and enjoy nature.
